Agaba Astaluzi (Chairperson), Janet Bura

Why was the organization born
This group started as a result of ecological
damage to the environment; womenÕs efforts for natural environmental
development in a sustainable manner were being violated by men and the
local authority structures.
To mobilise the active involvement of
women in natural environment management by the year 2000. To equip women
and other groups of the community with skills and knowledge for improving
the rural economy at household levels by the year 2010. To encourage
the community to provide pratical demonstration of the acquired knowledge
as a continuous process.
Areas of action
Rural management of protected areas, soil
conservation, women and children advocacy, poverty alleviation, project
activities for rural life improvement.
Past and present actions
Past: mass mobilisation and awareness
creation on natural resource protection and publications of related notes.
Present: lobbying for funds for training community groups in our
areas of action in a programme lasting from three to five years from
the starting date.
Support from formal or informal sources
Presently, no funds received and/or promised.
If we could obtain funds from friends
and organisations, we could print out the many drafts we have on rural
communities and natural resources management including protected areas.
